It may be needful to state that man was created essentially to reveal God’s eternal glory
in the universe from the earth (Is. 43:7; Rev. 4:11) and to accomplish this man was to
share in His eternal life and glory through Christ (Jn. 17:1-10). However, when man
disobeyed God and therefore died (Gen. 2:15-17 v. 17; 3:1-19 v. 5, 7), he lost God’s
Shekinah glory from the presence of His very life to mankind (Ex. 33:18; Jn. 17:5; Acts 7:2;
2Thess. 2:14). All human beings beginning with Adam and Eve fell short of His glory
through sin and became subjected to death (on all three levels of death; that is spiritual,
physical and eternal death) (Rom. 3:23). Man had acquired the state of knowing good and
evil but at the expense of losing God’s true holiness and righteousness (Gen. 3:22; 9:6;
Eph. 4:22-24). Humanity thereafter became naked, vulnerable, blame gaming, fearful of
truth, a disobedient rebel to God’s voice and was banished from the Garden of Eden and
totally barred from the tree of life (Gen. 3:6-12, 20-24 v. 24). To regain eternal life and
glory (Jn. 17:3; Rom. 7:22; 8:1-4, 29-30; Eph. 4:22-24) the unique God-man Jesus Christ
was born to die (Jn. 18:31-40 v. 32; see Matt. 20:17-20).
