Right from creation, God who is Spirit provided in the tripartite human being an image
link of holy-fire by which man would worship Him in spirit and in truth (Gen. 1:26-28;
2:7, 24, 25; Jn. 4:23, 24; 1 Thess. 5:23, 24). Man’s disobedience thereafter opened the
door for unauthorized or strange-fires (Gen. 2:15-17; 3:1-19) through the flesh (Js. 1:13,
14), the world (1 Jn. 2:15-17) and the Devil (Matt. 4:3; 6:13; 2 Cor. 4:4; 1 Pet. 5:8; Rev.
12:9-11). Scripture teaches that man’s spirit had become dysfunctional towards God
and one another thereafter and required God’s intervention for obtaining divine
approval and relationship (Gen. 3:8-10, 19; 4:1-12; 5:22-24; 5:1-3; 9:1-11; Rom. 5:1-17;
6:23; 7:14-8:4; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-24).
