God is revealed and known (Jn. 14:1-26; 17:1-3; 2 Pet. 2:20; 1 Jn. 2:24, 25). The mystery of
God revealed – the Father and Christ, the Son of God (Col. 2:2, 3) - is the backbone to the
Christian Faith (Matt. 16:13-19; Jn. 14:6-11, 15-23; 16:7-14; Acts 2:33; Rom. 8:9-11; Eph.
3:14-19). God exists as a perfect unity and hence a Trinity; yet God is revealed and known as
three distinct persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 3:17; 28:19; Jn. 14:6-
11, 15-23; 16:7-14; Acts 2:33; Rom. 8:9-11; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Tim. 3:9, 16; 1 Pet. 1:2). In their
distinctions, the Father is not the Son; but neither is the Son the Holy Spirit; nor the Father
the Holy Spirit. In their divinity, they are co-equal and exist both together and separately as
God; hence the Father is God (Jn. 20:17), the Son is God (Jn. 20:28) and the Holy Spirit is God
(Acts 5:4).
