Jesus after His bodily resurrection went back to heaven (Acts 1:11; 2:33-36; Eph. 1:20-
21; 4:8-10; Phil. 2:5-11; Rev. 1:8-18). The ascension of Jesus (Matt. 28:16-20; Acts 1:9-
11) led to His exaltation and glorification which inaugurated His reign as the Messiah on
the throne of God (Acts 2:36; Eph. 1:20-22; Phil. 2:9-11). He also assumed His heavenly
ministry as our Apostle and great High Priest representing redeemed sinners before God
(Rom. 8:34; Heb. 3:1; 4:14; 7:25). The fact of the ascension and glorification of Jesus is
signified by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as the promise of the Father on the Day of
Pentecost and thereafter (Jn. 7:37-39; Acts 2:33, 36, 38-39; 10:36-48).
