In quoting certain Old Testament texts, Jesus often referred to the portions relevant to
his first Advent as the working suffering Messiah (Is. 11:1-3a; 61:1-2a) but left off certain
pending duties as the reigning Messiah’s peaceful kingdom (Is. 11:3b-5; 61:2b-5)
