Eschatology is the doctrinal study of last days' events and the future destiny of humankind (death, resurrection, judgment, end of the world etc.). It unfolds God's prophetic program for humankind, Israel, the Church and the whole created order.

The word derives from the two Greek words Escatos meaning last and Logos which means word. The Bible speaks of God as the Creator of the universe, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1). The beginning referred to here is a point in time in eternity past. John declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:1-3). Hence Jesus Christ existed as the word before the earth was formed. The Godhead is eternal!
